Defibrillation electrode
Abstract
Abstract The invention relates to a defibrillation electrode, in particular for intravascular placement in a patient. It comprises a flexible electrode cable with at least one elongate, electrically insulated conductor, and an electrode head which is fitted at the distal end of the electrode cable and has at least one defibrillation surface for transmission of defibrillation pulses to the heart of the patient. In order to obtain a defibrillation electrode of this type which is fixable and which scarcely influences the blood flow in the blood vessel in which the electrode is fixed, it is proposed, according to the invention, that the electrode head (5, 10, 15, 22, 27) be constructed such that it can be expanded in the radial direction and forms at least the contours of a hollow body (5, 10, 15, 22, 27) in an expanded position. <IMAGE>
