Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 16
Claim 1
Independent Claim
132 words
An electronic identification device for animals or articles, in particular suitable for use as an earmark, comprising at least a first member (1) having a tapering shape (9) between a top and a base (10), wherein an electronic identification circuit (7,8) is provided in the member (1) of tapering shape; and attachment means (3) for attaching the member (1) of tapering shape to the animal (2) or article (32), characterized in that the member (1) of tapering shape is made of hard, substantially non-resilient synthetic plastics material which encloses the identification circuit (7,8), and in that the attachment means (3) is arranged to engage the member (1) of tapering shape at the side of said base (10), whereby said base (10) in use lies flat against the animal (2) or article (32).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
49 words
An electronic identification device according to claim 1, characterized in that the member (1) comprising the identification circuit (7,8) is provided with a central bore (17) extending transversely to the base (10), in which retaining means (18,21,25) are provided for a pin-shaped element (5) of the attachment means (3).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
64 words
An electronic identification device according to claim 2, characterized in that the retaining means (18,21,25) comprise a widened chamber (19) located remote from the base (10) and a shoulder (18) forming the transition between the bore (17) and the widened chamber (19), the pin-shaped element (5) comprising an at least partly elastically deformable head (6) which has a greater diameter than the bore (17).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
79 words
An electronic identification device according to claim 2, characterized in that the bore (17) terminates at a distance from the base (10) into a widened chamber (19) which is capable of receiving the head (6) of the pin-shaped element (5), and that the wall of the bore (17), at the location of the transition to the widened chamber (19), is provided with springing lips (25) which are capable of engaging behind the head (6) of the pin-shaped element (5).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
30 words
An electronic identification device according to claim 2 or 4, characterized in that the bore (17) tapers from the base (10), at least between the base and the shoulder (18).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
32 words
An electronic identification device according to claim 3,4 or 5, characterized in that the head (6) of the pin-shaped element (5) is provided with a hard tip which is difficult to deform.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
33 words
An electronic identification device according to any one of claims 4-6, characterized in that between the springing lips (25) centering means (26) for the head (6) of the pin-shaped element (5) are located.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
71 words
An electronic identification device according to claim 2, characterized in that the retaining means (18,21,25) comprise a metal plate (21) arranged in the bore (17), said plate having a central opening which is bounded by bent springing lips (22), and that the pin-shaped element (5) comprises a cylindrical pin which can be inserted through the opening and can then be retained by the springing lips (22) of the metal plate (21).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
17 words
An electronic identification device according to claim 8, characterized in that the cylindrical pin (5) is tubular.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
55 words
An electronic identification device according to any one of claims 2-9, characterized in that the pin-shaped element (5) is provided with a flange (12) of hollow and conical or pyramid-shaped design, which in operation is located against a surface of the article or the animal, remote from the member (1) comprising the identification circuit (7,8).
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
23 words
An electronic identification device according to claim 10, characterized in that the flange (12) is provided with a number of air holes (15).
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
33 words
An electronic identification device according to any one of claims 3-11, characterized in that the widened chamber (19), at the end remote from the base (10), is provided with a sealing means (27,29).
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
35 words
An electronic identification device according to claim 12, characterized in that the sealing means (27,29) is formed by a cap(29) of hard and smooth material, fitted around the member (1) comprising the identification circuit (7,8).
Claim 14
Dependent Claim
30 words
An electronic identification device according to claim 12 or 13, characterized in that the sealing means (27,29) is provided with an air opening (28) communicating with the widened chamber (19).
Claim 15
Dependent Claim
33 words
An electronic identification device according to claim 1, characterized in that the attachment means comprises a pin (33) extending from the base, away from the identification circuit, and provided with a sharp tip.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim
31 words
An electronic identification device according to any of the preceding claims 1-14, characterized in that the identification device is connected to a flap (32) of a traditional earlabel (30) for livestock.
