Abstract

Abstract The camera provided with the sight line detecting device of the present invention is provided with an illumination unit (115) for detecting the corneal reflected image of the eye of the photographer, and an illumination unit equipped with plural light sources (120) positioned around an eyepiece lens, for detecting the position of the center of the pupil. The latter illumination unit (120), for detecting the position of the center of the pupil, is so controlled that a light source positioned below or at the side of the eye of the photographer is turned on regardless of the change in the camera position, whereby the illuminating light is not intercepted by the eyelid or eyelashes and the position of the pupil center can be precisely detected.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 89 words
A camera with a sight line detecting device, comprising: first illumination means for detecting the corneal reflected image of the eye of the photographer; second illumination means for detecting the boundary between the pupil and the iris, or between the white and the black of said eye; light-receiving means for receiving the reflected light from said eye, illuminated by said first and second illumination means; light source switching means for switching the activation of said first and second illumination means; and position detecting means for detecting the camera position.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 54 words
A camera according to claim 1, wherein said second illumination means includes plural light sources positioned around an observing optical axis for the photographer, and a light source or light sources at a lower position with respect to the direction of gravity are used, based on the output of said camera position detecting means.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 54 words
A camera according to claim 1, wherein said second illumination means includes plural light sources positioned around an observing optical axis for the photographer, and a light source or light sources in the horizontal position, with respect to the direction of gravity, and used, based on the output of said camera position detecting means.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 62 words
A camera with a sight line detecting device for detecting the line of sight of the photographer by an eye image thereof, comprising: plural light sources for illuminating the eye of said photographer; switching means for switching the light sources to be turned on among said plural light sources; and confirmation means for confirming the light source switched by said switching means.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 38 words
A camera according to claim 4, further comprising: position detecting means for detecting the position of said camera; wherein said switching means is adapted to effect the switching operation according to the output of said position detecting means.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 16 words
A camera according to claim 4, wherein said switching means is switched by a manual switch.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 69 words
A camera with a sight line detecting device for detecting the line of sight of the photographer by receiving the eye image of said photographer with a two-dimensional sensor having plural photosensor elements and determining the line of sight, based on the output of said two-dimensional sensor, comprising: process means for starting the processing of the output of said two-dimensional sensor, from the lower part of the image field.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 18 words
A camera according to claim 7, further comprising: plural light sources for irradiating the eye of the photographer.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 74 words
A camera with a sight line detecting device for detecting the line of sight of the photographer by receiving the eye image of said photographer with a sensor having plural photosensor elements and determining the line of sight, based on the output of said sensor, comprising: process means for arbitrarily setting the start and end position of processing of the output within said sensor, and effecting the output processing according to thus set positions.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 98 words
A camera with a sight line detecting device detecting the sight line of a photographer by an image of the eye of the photographer, comprising: a plurality of light source for illumination of the eye of the photographer; switching means for switching over the light of the light sources; position detective means for detecting as to which position the camera is in among the horizontal position and two vertical positions; and said switching means switching so that the light source located in the horizontal on lower position with respect to the direction of the gravity may be detected.
