Abstract

Abstract A method of assigning a feature service to the line of a subscriber of a telecommunications network during the network's administration operation. The first step of the method is executing, at a predefined point during the administration, a first data operation to determine whether the assignment of a respective feature service is blocked by a currently assigned feature service. Thereafter, the method executes a second data operation to determine whether the assignment of the respective feature service requires the prior assignment of another feature service. The method then assigns the feature service to the subscriber line upon determining that the feature service is not blocked and that any required feature services are already assigned to the line. <IMAGE>

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 15
Claim 1
Independent Claim 142 words
A method of assigning at least one feature service to the transmission line of a subscriber of a telecommunications network having a processor that governs the operation of network administration via the use of an administration operating program and a memory that stores data regarding the program, the feature services and the subscriber, comprising the steps of: a. determining whether a respective feature service is blocked from being assigned at a predefined time during the execution of the operating program by feature services that are currently assigned to the line; b. determining whether the respective feature service first requires at least one other particular feature service to be assigned to the line before being assigned; and c. assigning, at the predefined time, the respective feature service that is determined by the first and second determining steps to be available to be assigned.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 58 words
The method of claim 1, wherein the first determining step comprises the step of accessing and operating on data pertaining to the respective feature service, to the feature service that is provided by the network, and to the feature services that are currently assigned to the line, said data being arranged in a format capable of being customized.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 48 words
The method of claim 1, wherein the second determining step comprises the step of accessing and operating on data pertaining to the respective feature service and to the feature services that are currently assigned to the line, said data being arranged in a format capable of being customized.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 26 words
The method of claim 1, wherein each feature service comprises feature software that governs the definition of a particular feature characteristics for a respective subscriber line.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 35 words
The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of repeating steps a, b and c, at the predefined time, for each of a plurality of respective feature services to be assigned to the line.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 47 words
The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of repeating steps a, b and c, at the predefined time, for each of a plurality of respective feature services to be assigned to the line in an order established at the most recent formatting of the network.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 31 words
The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of defining at least one predefined time during the execution of the operating software at which a feature service can be assigned.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 52 words
The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of defining at least one predefined time during the execution of the operating software at which a respective feature service can be assigned by specifying a request for the respective feature service in the operating program and introducing respective data to the memory.
Claim 9
Independent Claim 186 words
A method of executing in a call processing system call feature software, that governs the definition of the characteristics of call features, by administration software, that governs the definition of system and system subscriber line characteristics, said system having a processor that operates the software and a memory that stores the software and data pertaining thereto, comprising the steps of: a. executing, upon a predefined time during the execution of the administration software, a first data operation to determine the call feature software of respective call features that are not prevented from being assigned to a subscriber line for execution by other call feature software currently assigned to the line; b. executing a second data operation to determine the call feature software of the respective call features which are not prevented from being assigned that are also not inhibited from being assigned to the line by the absence of assignment of other respective call feature software to the line; and c. executing the call feature software for the respective call features which are not prevented and that are not inhibited from being assigned to the line.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 69 words
The method of claim 9, wherein the step of executing the first data operation comprises determining, for each respective call feature subscribed by the subscriber, a first common data set between a data bit map that defines all the call features provided by the system and a data table row that defines the blocking of a respective call feature based on call feature software currently assigned to the line.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 105 words
The method of claim 9, wherein the step of executing the first data operation comprises a) determining, for each respective call feature subscribed by the subscriber, a first common data set between a data bit map that defines all the call features provided by the system and a data table row that defines the blocking of call feature software of a respective call feature based on call feature software currently assigned to the line and b) performing a bit map search of the first common data set to determine the call feature software of each respective call feature that is not prevented from being assigned.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 23 words
The method of claim 11, wherein the step of performing comprises determining that said first common data set is not a null set.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 118 words
The method of claim 9, wherein the step of executing the second data operation comprises a) determining a second common data set between a data bit map that defines the call features subscribed by the subscriber and a data table row that defines the prerequisite call software that is required to be assigned to the line for call feature software of a respective call feature and b) determining the entire data set between the second common data set and the data table row that defines the prerequisite call software that is required to be assigned to the line for call feature software of a respective call feature, said entire data set excluding data entries that are common therebetween.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 147 words
The method of claim 9, wherein the step of executing the second data operation comprises a) determining a second common data set between a data bit map that defines the call features subscribed by the subscriber and a data table row that defines the prerequisite call software that is required to be assigned to the line for call feature software of a respective call feature, b) determining the entire data set between the second common data set and the data table row that defines the prerequisite call software that is required to be assigned to the line for call feature software of a respective call feature, said entire data set excluding data entries that are common therebetween, and c) performing a bit map search of said entire data set to determine the call feature software of each respective call feature that is not inhibited from being assigned.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 21 words
The method of claim 14, wherein the step of performing comprises determining that said entire data set is a null set.
