Abstract

The invention relates to dental treatment units with a treatment chair (8) and at least one suction tube (1) with a suction hose (5) for sucking coolant and saliva out of the patient 's mouth during dental treatment. A mounting plate (3), to which an articulated arm (2) is articulated, is optionally attached to the treatment chair (8) or the headrest (70) via an additional holder (6). The articulated arm (2) consists of a plurality of segments (2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 2.7), which are connected by joints (4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7) with each other and with the mounting plate (3) are connected. At least one of the joints (4.1) has more than one degree of freedom of movement. A locking device is built into the joints (4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7), which can be activated and deactivated by the dentist using a switch. The foremost segment (2.1) of the articulated arm (2) preferably has a receptacle for the suction pipe (1). Pressure sensors (9, 9 ') installed in the suction pipe (1) or the foremost segment (2.1) of the articulated arm (2) or in the headrest (70) detect any jerky movements of the patient; this allows the joints (4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7) to be blocked fully automatically to avoid injury to the patient. Thanks to the device according to the invention, coolant and saliva can be sucked out of the patient's mouth without the assistant having to hold the suction tube (1).
