Claim 12
Independent Claim 126 words
A method of producing a coating agent comprising an aqueous emulsion of polysiloxane-polyvinyl graft copolymer, comprising the following steps: (a) forming a silanol compound by hydrolysis of one or more compounds each capable of forming one or more silanol groups on hydrolysis, said hydrolysis being performed in an aqueous medium in the presence of an acid or alkali hydrolysis-inducing catalyst; (b) forming an aqueous emulsion of a polyorganosiloxane by polycondensation of the silanol compound formed in step (a) in the presence of a polycondensation catalyst; and (c) addition of vinyl monomers and a catalyst for radical polymerisation to the aqueous emulsion of polyorganosiloxane formed in (b), so as to induce grafting, graft polymerisation or graft copolymerisation, thus introducing vinyl monomers or polymer blocks into said polyorganosiloxane.
