Abstract

Abstract A version-up method and system in a multiprocessor system provides functions that a processor to be made version-up investigates resources under control by itself before deciding any of the resources to be moved and/or duplicated, that the processor decides any of the processors to which the movement and/or the duplication of any of the resources is destined, that the resource is moved or duplicated that version-up of the processor to be made version-up is executed. This can effectively use the resources. The system can be made version-up while a user continues a computer work.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 15
Claim 1
Independent Claim 125 words
A version-up method in a multiprocessor system having a plurality of processors connected thereto to form a network, comprising in combination: a step in which any of the processors to be made version-up investigates resources under control by itself before deciding any of the resources to be moved and/or duplicated; a step in which the processor to be made version-up decides any of the processors to which the movement and/or the duplication of any of the resources is destined; a step in which the processor to be made version-up does information interchange about any of the resources with the destination processor of the movement and/or duplication before moving and/or duplicating the resource; and, a step of executing version-up of the processor to be made version-up.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 45 words
A version-up method according to claim 1, further comprising in combination: a step in which after the execution of the version-up, the processor having the version-up made has the resources moved thereto and/or duplicated therein from any of the other processors in the multiprocessor system.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 54 words
A version-up method according to claim 1, wherein the step for the movement and/or duplication comprises: a sub-step in which the processor to be made version-up determines whether or not the resources under control by itself are sole in the multiprocessor system before deciding whether or not the resources should be moved or duplicated.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 156 words
A version-up method according to claim 1, wherein the step for the movement and/or duplication comprises in combination: a sub-step in which the processor to be made version-up informs to the processors in the multiprocessor system a name list of at least resources for identification of the resources to be moved or duplicated and one of data concerning particulars of the resources; a sub-step in which each of the processors having received the information determines on the basis of the information received whether or not it can accept any of the resources and if so, answers back a name list of resources it can accept to the processor to be made version-up; and, a sub-step in which the processor to be made version-up decides for each of the resources to be moved or duplicated a destination processor to which the resource is moved or duplicated on the basis of the name list of the acceptable resources.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 117 words
A version-up method according to claim 1, wherein the step for the movement and/or duplication comprises in combination: a sub-step in which the processor to be made version-up informs to the processors in the multiprocessor system a request of movement and/or duplication of resources; a sub-step in which each of the processors having received the information answers back data concerning particulars of resources it can accept to the processor to be made version-up; and, a sub-step in which the processor to be made version-up decides for each of the resources to be moved or duplicated a destination processor to which the resource is moved or duplicated on the basis of the name list of the acceptable resources.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 31 words
A version-up method according to claim 4, wherein one destination processor to which the resource is moved or duplicated is decided for each of the resources to be moved or duplicated.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 27 words
A version-up method according to claim 1, wherein the version-up is made for the plurality of processors in the network at the same time and in parallel.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 36 words
A version-up method according to claim 4, further comprising in combination: each of the processors having received the information sets reservation of use if it determines that there is any of the resources it can accept.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 57 words
A version-up method according to claim 4, further comprising in combination: a sub-step in which after having decided the destination processor to which the resource is moved or duplicated, the processor to be made version-up requests the destination processor to reserve the resource and if the destination accepts the reservation, starts movement and/or duplication of the resource.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 33 words
A version-up method according to claim 1, wherein any of the destination processors to which movement and/or duplication of any of the resources is made is temporarily and newly connected to the network.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 115 words
A version-up method of features in a system having at least one processor and including a transmission line, comprising in combination: a step in which the transmission line has one or more processors connected thereto temporarily and newly; a step in which one processor to be made version-up among at least one processor investigates resources under control by itself before deciding any of the resources to be moved and/or duplicated; a step in which the processor to be made version-up does information interchange about any of the resources with the new processor before moving and/or duplicating the resource to the new processor; and, a step for executing version-up of the processor to be made version-up.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 39 words
A version-up method according to claim 11, further comprising in combination: a step in which after the execution of the version-up, the processor having the version-up made has the resources moved thereto and/or duplicated therein from the new processors.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 18 words
A version-up method according to claim 11, wherein the system including at least one processor comprises one processor.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 121 words
A version-up system in a multiprocessor system having a plurality of processors connected thereto to form a network, comprising in combination: means by which any of the processors to be made version-up investigates resources under control by itself before deciding any of the resources to be moved and/or duplicated; means by which the processor to be made version-up decides any of the processors to which the movement and/or the duplication of any of the resources is destined; means by which the processor to be made version-up does information interchange about any of the resources with the destination processor of the movement and/or duplication before moving and/or duplicating the resource; and, means for executing version-up of the processor to be made version-up.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 109 words
A version-up system in a system having at least one processor and including a transmission line, comprising in combination: means by which the transmission line has one or more processors connected thereto temporarily and newly; means by which one processor to be made version-up among at least one processor investigates resources under control by itself before deciding any of the resources to be moved and/or duplicated; means by which the processor to be made version-up does information interchange about any of the resources with the new processor before moving and/or duplicating the resource to the new processor; and, means for executing version-up of the processor to be made version-up.
