Abstract
Abstract Firstly, images (17, 20) are displayed and recorded, respectively, by means of display device (16) and hard copy unit (20) on the basis of the same image data. Secondly, the image data are subjected to a color conversion process by the use of color conversion parameters having different values from one another, and a plurality of processed images (18) are displayed by the display device (16). Moreover, from among the processed images (18) being currently displayed there is selected a processed image (18) having substantially the same colors as the image recorded by the hard copy unit (20), to thereby set the value of the color conversion parameter. Subsequently, a color conversion parameter representing an inverse conversion to the color conversion by way of color conversion parameter which has been set is set into the hard copy unit (20) to thereby record an image (23) based on said image data.

A color image printing apparatus having a display device (16) for displaying images; and a hard copy unit (20) for printing the images through a manner of representing colors which is different from that of said display device (16), said color image recording apparatus comprising; a means (13, 21) for inputting image data representing an original image (17); a means (14) for causing said display device (16) to display said original image (17) in accordance with said image data to be input; a means (14, 15) for causing said hard copy unit (20) to print an original image (22) obtained through a manner of representing colors which is different from that of said display device (16) in accordance with said image data; a means (14, 15) for subjecting said image data to color conversions by way of color conversion parameters each having a different value, to thereby allow said display device (16) to display them in the form of processed images (18) having different colors from one another; a means (12, 14) for selecting any one from among said processed images (18) being displayed by said display device (16); and a means (14) for causing said hard copy unit (20) to print an image (23) in such a manner that said original image (22) is subjected to an inverse color conversion to the color conversion which said selected processed image (18) undergoes.

A method of simulating a color image, comprising the steps of: displaying and printing images (17, 20) based on the same image data by means of a display device (16) and a hard copy unit (20), respectively; subjecting said image data to a color conversion process by means of color conversion parameters having different values from one another, to display a plurality of processed images (18) by way of said display device (16); setting values of said color conversion parameters in response to selecting a processed image (18) having substantially the same color as that of the image (20)printed by said hard copy unit (20) from among said processed images (18) being currently displayed; and setting in said hard copy unit (20) a color conversion parameter representing an inverse conversion to the color conversion by way of said color conversion parameter which has been set, to thereby print an image (23) based on said image data.
