Abstract

Abstract Highly heat resistant glass fiber which comprises from 0.1 to 2.0 wt% of Al₂O₃, from 0.1 to 2.0 wt% of TiO₂, from 96 to 99.8 wt% of SiO₂ and not more than 0.03 wt% of the sum of alkali metal oxides and alkaline earth metal oxides. A sol-gel process for its production is disclosed and its use as a heat insulating material.
