Claim 2
Dependent Claim 22 words
A method as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said recording is azimuth recording, and wherein said sequences are recorded on track pairs.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 34 words
A method as claimed in Claim 1, wherein data defining one of said images is recorded on a plurality N of track pairs, each of said sequences having data defining 1/N of said image.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 11 words
A method as claimed in claim 3, wherein N = 3.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 39 words
A method as claimed in Claim 1, wherein each of said basic segments defines an area having a longer length a first direction than in a second direction perpendicular thereto; and wherein said subsequences extend in said second direction.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 39 words
A method as claimed in Claim 5, wherein said first direction is the horizontal direction and said second direction is the vertical direction, and wherein said subsequences comprise columns of basic segments having data defining vertically adjacent image elements.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 32 words
A method as claimed in Claim 1, wherein each of said basic segments comprises blocks of coded data, each block including a plurality of pixels defining a rectangular area of said image.
Claim 8
Independent Claim 61 words
A method as claimed in any one of Claims 1-7, further comprising the steps of reading out data from a plurality of said tracks at said additional speed, said data constituting macro-segments each signifying a contiguous part of one of a plurality of sequential images, combining a plurality of said macro-segments together defining a complete image, and displaying said complete image.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 135 words
Method for generating display signals for display of an image in response to data read from a recording medium at a selected speed exceeding the recording speed, said recording medium having a plurality of tracks each having at least part of one of a plurality of sequential images recorded thereon, said data comprising a plurality of macro-segments each defining a contiguous area of one of said images, a plurality of macro-segments varying in number in correspondence to the ratio of said selected speed to said recording speed defining all of an image, comprising the steps of storing said macro-segments in a readout memory until said plurality of macro-segments has been received, and reading out image-defining data from said read-out memory in a sequence and at a rate suitable for display, thereby creating said display signals.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 28 words
A method as claimed in Claim 9, wherein said macro-segments comprise encoded data, and further comprising the step of decoding said encoded data before creating said display signals.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 32 words
A method as claimed in Claim 9, wherein said image defining data is digital data; and further comprising the step of converting said digital image defining data to analog data before display.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 40 words
A method as claimed in Claim 9, wherein said selected speed is a multiple p of said recording speed, wherein each of said images is recorded on a plurality N of said tracks, and wherein p/N is not an integer.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 89 words
Recording medium having a plurality of tracks, data for creating a plurality of images being recorded on said tracks, each of said tracks having a sequence defining a first contiguous area of one of said images recorded thereon, said sequence comprising a plurality of subsequences each defining a second contiguous area smaller than that first contiguous area, each of said subsequences comprising a plurality of basic segments each defining an incremental area of one of said images, said plurality of incremental areas together constituting one of said second areas.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 137 words
Apparatus for recording video signals signifying a plurality of images on a plurality of tracks of a recording medium for replay at the recording speed and at least one higher speed, a playback head travelling in a direction transverse to said tracks thereby reading out macro-segments of data from each of said tracks when said recording apparatus is operative at said higher speed, comprising coding means (24) for encoding said video signals into basic segments, each basic segment defining an incremental area of one of said images, means for combining said basic segments into subsequences each defining a contiguous area of said image, and recording means for recording said subsequences on said tracks of said recording medium so that a plurality of sequential subsequences on a track constitute a sequence defining a contiguous part of said image.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 40 words
