Abstract

Abstract The mechanical device, particularly for the movement and selective locking of a chair, comprises a pair of arms (3a,3b) to be fastened to the chair and consists of a swivel boxlike element (5) associated with a pivoting pin (4) integral with said pair of arms (3a,3b), which contains a molding box (20) integral with said pin (4). The molding box (20) interacts both with means of resilient opposition (24,25) to said boxlike element and with a separate means for the selective locking of the position of the chair with regard to the boxlike element (20) and for the control for a gas piston. This mechanical device makes it possible to achieve an optimal adjustment of the chair by directly acting on the selective locking means which interacts with the molding box (20).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 105 words
Mechanical device, particularly for the movement and the selective blocking of a chair, comprising a pair of arms (3a,3b) to be fastened to said chair, characterized in that it has a boxlike element (5), attached in a swiveling fashion to a pivoting pin (4) integral with said pair of arms (3a,3b), containing a molding box (20), integral with said pin (4) and interacting with means of resilient opposition (24,25) with said boxlike element (5) and with an individual means (18) for the selective locking of the position of said chair with regard to said boxlike element (5) and for the control of a gas piston.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 108 words
Device according to claim 1, characterized in that to said pivoting pin (4) there is associated in a swiveling fashion, proximate to the ends integral with said pair of arms (3a,3b), a boxlike element (5) with a triangular shape seen from above, wherefrom there projects laterally a pair of first appendages (6a,6b) in which the first holes (7a,7b)are made for fastening by means of a first and second screw (8a,8b) to two pairs of sleeves (9a,9b,10a,10b); preferably, these sleeves (9a,9b,10a,10b) will be made of a self-lubricating plastic material, which close together in order to permit a swiveling connection to said pivoting pin (4) of said boxlike element (5).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 139 words
Device according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that said boxlike element (5), comprising with regard to its vertex a conical bushing (13) fashioned to receive the end of a column (14) provided with a control (15) for the gas supply, has laterally a second hole (16a) and, in relation to a predisposed tab (16b) projecting internally, a third hole, said second and third holes (16a,16c) having the same axis transversal to said boxlike element (5); with regard to said holes (16a,16c), there is the end (17) of a shaft (18) which can be positioned and passes through, which shaft (18) is accessible at the other end by the user, with said shaft (18) constituting said single means for selectively locking the position of said chair with regard to said boxlike element (5) and for the gas-piston control.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 51 words
Device according to claims 1 and 3, characterized in that in the interspace between said second and third holes (16a,16c), there projects from said end (17) of said shaft (18) a second appendage (19) designed to interact, when said shaft (18) is turned, with said control (15) for the gas supply.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 70 words
Device according to claims 1 and 4, characterized in that to said boxlike element (5) a molding box (20) can be associated, with an essentially trapezoidal shape, with the larger end (21) linked to said pivoting pin (4); said molding box (20) has a longitudinal extension below that of said boxlike element (5), with said molding box presenting laterally a third appendage (22) which extends beyond the smaller end (23).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 38 words
Device according to claims 1 and 5, characterized in that said third appendage (22) is positioned in the interspace between the planes in which lie said tab (16b) and the adjacent lateral surface of said boxlike element (5).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 66 words
Device according to claims 1 and 6, characterized in that below said molding box (20) there are means of resilient opposition comprising a small pin (24), around which there is associated a spring (25) and to which at one end there is a knob (26), passing through said molding box (20) and said boxlike element (5) in the fourth (27) and fifth (28) holes made therein.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 63 words
Device according to claims 1 and 7, characterized in that the end (17) of said shaft (18) inside said boxlike element (5) can be inserted in said third hole (16c) positioning said third appendage (22) above or below the shaft (18), which shaft (18) makes it possible to tilt said chair after said end (17) has been withdrawn from said third hole (16c).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 33 words
Device according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that it comprises a U-channel (11) which can be temporarily associated at the back to said two pairs of sleeves (9a,9b,10a,10b) to conceal them.
