Apparatus for assisting in the implantation of implant material in tissue to be reapproximated or reinforced comprising: cannula means (36) having a hollow body, an open distal end (44) and a proximal end (24) which in use becomes open, said cannula dimensioned to receive the implant material; point means (38) detachably protruding from the proximal end of the cannula means for penetrating tissue; and characterised in that: said implant material is preattached through said cannula to said point means; and said point means is releasably mounted to the open proximal end of the cannula means.
