Abstract

Abstract The connection device for low current installations, particularly for telecommunication and data communication, comprises a multiway socket (1) whose contact pins (2) are arranged in a predetermined basic module, and a plug (3), which interacts with the socket, there being provided between the socket and plug coding means which, in the case of non-correspondence, prevent the plug and socket being plugged together to connect the contacts. These coding means consist of a component, especially a sleeve-shaped insert (6), which changes the geometrical cross-section of the plug opening (4) of the socket (1) in accordance with the cross-section of the insertion part (5) of the plug (3) to be used. Such sleeve-shaped components permit matching of the plug opening of the socket to any conceivable geometrical cross-section of the insertion part of the plug to be used, as a result of which virtually unlimited coding possibilities are provided with very simple components and very simple handling. <IMAGE>
