Abstract

Abstract A receiving frequency selecting method for a vehicle-mounted RDS receiver, wherein a list of alternative frequencies data being transmitted by the broadcasting stations formerly in contact are stored in a memory, and it is assured for the RDS receiver to initiate the operation for chasing the same broadcast program basing on the stored list of alternative frequencies data whenever the motor vehicle returns to the same broad-casting service area of the network wherein the stored list of alternative frequencies data is effective for use. Further, the stored list of alternative frequencies data relating to frequencies of the received broadcast waves during the operation of chasing the same radio program are also utilized together with the stored list of alternative frequencies data transmitted by the broadcasting stations for chasing the same broadcast program. <IMAGE>

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 160 words
A receiving frequency selecting method for a RDS receiver comprising the steps of: receiving RDS broadcast waves including a list of alternative frequencies data (AF) for a group of broadcasting stations (A-E) in the same broadcasting network and program identification codes (P1); chasing the same broadcast program by varying a receiving frequency of the RDS receiver to a frequency that corresponds to one of the list of alternative frequencies data (AF) included in the broadcasting station in contact in order to maintain a receiving signal level at or above a prescribed receiving signal level or that of the broadcasting station presently in contact; characterised by storing at least a part of a list of alternative frequencies data (AF) transmitted by the broadcasting stations in a memory by storing a newly obtained alternative frequency data whenever the receiving frequency is varied to chase the same broadcast program; and utilizing the stored list of alternative frequencies data in the next chasing operation.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 148 words
A receiving frequency selecting method for a RDS receiver comprising the steps of: receiving RDS broadcast waves including alternative frequencies data (AF) for a group of broadcasting stations (A-E) in the same broadcasting network and program identification codes (PI); chasing the same broadcast program by varying a receiving frequency of the RDS receiver to a frequency on which the same broadcast program is broadcast by a broadcasting station other than the broadcasting station in contact in order to keep a receiving signal level at or above a prescribed receiving signal level or that of the broadcasting station presently in contact; characterised by storing a list of alternative frequencies data transmitted by the broadcasting stations in one memory (11a) and another list of alternative frequencies data corresponding to presently received frequencies in another memory (11b); and utilizing both stored lists of alternative frequencies data in chasing a broadcast program.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 48 words
A receiving frequency selecting method as defined in claim 1 or 2, further comprising the steps of: receiving the all broadcast waves that correspond to the stored list of alternative frequencies data; and selecting a broadcasting station having the largest signal level for reception of a broadcast program.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 30 words
A method according to claim 1, 2 or 3 further comprising the step of deleting the oldest stored alternative frequency data (AF) on storage of a new alternative frequency data.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 26 words
A method according to claim 1, 2, 3 or 4 wherein a list of new alternative frequency data are stored after a new frequency is selected.
