Abstract
Abstract A self-inserting absorbable orthopedic fixation device (300) having a bioabsorbable fastening body portion (302) for fastening body tissue, and having bone penetrating elements such as hard, pointed tips (301) for penetrating bone or hard tissue fixed thereto. The pointed tips may be fabricated from metals or ceramics, and are of sufficient length to be gripped by a drilling means and inserted into the bone.
