Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 335 words
Controller for a game machine connectable to a game machine for home use, comprising: (a) a housing (11) having a flat longitudinal shape with a longer axis extending in lateral direction, and having an upper surface (111), a lower surface (112), and a side surface spatially separating the upper and lower surfaces (111, 112); (b) upper surface operating means (12, 13) formed at a position on the upper surface (111) of said housing (11) at the left or the right and not across a longitudinal central axis of said housing (11); (c) side surface operating means (14) formed on the left side or the right side of the side surface of the housing (11) and not across the longitudinal central axis of said housing (11); said side surface operating means including a key top (141) having a first end pivotable around an axis (142) in the housing (11) near the central portion of the upper half of said side surface so as to act as a fulcrum, and a second end being a free end located near the outer side of the left or right side of said upper half of said side surface, so that the second end can be rotated into the housing (11) about the fulcrum of the first end, said key top (141) being curved similar to a curve formed along the upper half of said side surface from said central position to said left or right side and having an elongate shape arranged so that a portion thereof is exposed along said curve of said side surface of the housing (11); (d) switch means (143, 144, 146) contained in said housing (11) for outputting an electric signal when it is depressed by said second end by rotation of said key top (111), and (e) holding means (145) for holding said switch means (143, 144, 146) in said housing (11) at a position where it can be depressed by said second end of said key top (141) in said housing (11).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 87 words
Controller for a game machine according to claim 1, in which said switch means (143, 144, 146) includes a rubber contact (122, 123) which is resiliently deformed in depressed direction when it is depressed by rotation of said key top, and which is held by said holding means (145), and a first board (146) provided at a position facing said rubber contact (122, 123) having a contact circuit which provides an electric signal by a contact with said rubber contact (122, 123) when the latter is depressed.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 48 words
Controller for a game machine according to claim 2, further comprising a second board (16) contained in said housing (11) for providing an electric signal by an operation of said upper surface operating means (12, 13), said first board (146) being fixedly engaged with said second board (16).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 58 words
Controller for a game machine according to claim 2, in which said holding means (145) is formed on a rear surface side of the upper surface (111) of said housing (11) to have a shape of a frame for positioning and holding said rubber contact (122, 123) inserted therethrough, for limiting the stroke of said key top (141).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 53 words
Controller for a game machine according to claim 1, in which said side surface operating means (14) includes a first side surface operating means (14a) and a second side surface operating means (14b) both arranged in symmetry on the left and right side of said front side surface of said housing (11), respectively.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 33 words
Controller for a game machine according to claim 5, wherein both said first side surface operating means (14a) and said second side surface operating means (14b) each include an elongate key top (141).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 28 words
Controller for a game machine according to claim 1, in which said upper surface operating means (12, 13) includes a first upper surface operating means (12 or 13).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 35 words
Controller for a game machine according to claim 7, in which said first upper surface operating means (12 or 13) designates the direction of movement of a character of the game when it is operated.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 27 words
Controller for a game machine according to claim 7, in which said upper surface operating means further includes a second upper surface operating means (13 or 12).
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 60 words
Controller for a game machine according to claim 9, in which said first upper surface operating means (12 or 13) gives a first operation designation of a character for the game, when it is operated, and said second upper surface operating means (13 or 12) gives a second operation designation of a character for the game, when it is operated.
