Abstract

Abstract A plasma separating apparatus comprising a housing (2) provided with a blood inlet port (5), a plasma outlet port (6), and a blood cell outlet port (7); a rotor (3) rotatably held in the housing; a blood separating space (18) formed between the outside surface of the rotor (3) and the inside surface of the housing (2) and communicating with the blood inlet port (5) at its upper part and with the blood cell outlet port (7) at its lower part; a plasma passage (19) enclosing at least a part of the circumference of the blood separating space (18) and communicating with the plasma outlet port (6); and a plasma separating membrane (8) disposed so as to partition the blood separating space (18) and the plasma passage (19).

A plasma separating apparatus comprising: a housing having a blood inlet port, a plasma outlet port, a blood cell outlet port, and a plasma passage; a rotor rotatably held in said housing; a blood separating space formed between an outside surface of said rotor and an inside surface of said housing and communicating with said blood inlet port at its upper part and with said blood cell outlet port at its lower part; said plasma passage which encloses at least a part of the circumference of said blood separating space and communicates with said plasma outlet port; and a plasma separating membrane disposed in said housing so as to partition said blood separating space and said plasma passage.

A plasma separating apparatus of claim 1, wherein said housing comprises a substantially cylindrical inside housing and a substantially cylindrical outside housing; said inside housing having a plurality of plasma passage openings in a side wall thereof; said plasma separating membrane is attached to said side wall of said inside housing so as to cover said plasma passage openings; and said outside housing encloses at least a part of said side wall of said inside housing to where said plasma separating membrane is attached; said plasma passage is formed between said inside housing and said outside housing.

A plasma separating apparatus of claim 1, wherein said rotor has ferromagnetic elements for driving said rotor driven by magnetic force from outside said housing.

A plasma separating apparatus of claim 1, wherein said rotor has a substantially cylindrical shape with top and bottom ends closed, and is rotatably held substantially at said centers of said top and bottom ends by projections protruded from said top and bottom ends of said housing.

A plasma separating apparatus of claim 1, wherein said rotor has a spiral concavity.

A plasma separating apparatus of claim 1, wherein a part provided said blood inlet port of said housing has a larger inner diameter than another part of said housing and said part of said housing forms an annular blood inlet chamber.

A plasma separating apparatus of claim 1, wherein said housing has two projections provided at its top and bottom ends, said rotor has closed top and bottom ends, said closed top end of said rotor has a concavity for receiving said tip of said projection provided said housing at its top end, said closed bottom end of said rotor has a concavity for receiving said tip of said projection provided said housing at its bottom end.
