Abstract

Abstract Here is described a device for the emergency and parking braking of a vehicle ; the device consists of a control lever (8) mountable inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle and liftable by hand against the action of elastic means (12), of a hydraulic pump (10) controlled by the lifting of the lever and connected , by means of a three-way valve (11), to a braking circuit (6) of the rear wheels of the vehicle, and of a rachet gear (9) able to prevent the lever from lowering and bucked by said elastic means, the rachet gear being releasable by means of a pusher (49) mounted on the lever .

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim 111 words
Device for the emergency and parking braking of a vehicle, of the type comprising a control lever mountable in the passenger compartment of the vehicle and liftable by hand, a rachet gear engageable through the lifting of said lever and arranged to prevent the lever from lowering, and means to disengage said rachet gear, characterized in that said lever is liftable against the action of elastic means fitted so as to buck said rachet gear and in that, moreover, the device comprises a hydraulic pump operated by the lifting of the lever and connected by means of a three-way valve, with the braking circuit of an axis of the vehicle .
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 86 words
Device as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that said hydraulic pump comprises a slidable control rod linked to said lever in an articulated manner, a feed connection connected in deviation with an oil tank of a main circuit of a service braking system of the vehicle, and a delivery connected, through said three-way valve , with said braking circuit which is part of said service braking system and is connected, still through said three-way valve, with said main circuit of the service braking system .
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 80 words
Device as claimed in claim 2, characterized in that said three-way valve comprises a connecting body, which presents two opposed inlets respectively linked to said main braking circuit and to the delivery of said hydraulic pump and an outlet linked to said braking circuit of an axis of the vehicle, and a shuttle mobile between said body owing to the difference in pressure between said two inlets and able to selectively connect said outlet with one of said inlets .
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 107 words
Device as claimed in one of the previous claims, characterized in that said lever is idle-hinged within a U-shaped stirrup hinge-linked, at the open part, with a head of a control tension rod of the pump, said U-shaped stirrup being in its turn idle-hinge-mounted, coaxial to said lever, on a fixed stirrup rigidly provided with a sector gear of said rachet gear engaging with a corresponding pawl laterally borne by said lever ; between the latter and a shoulder rigid with the U-shaped stirrup near said open part of the stirrup there being pack-inserted a spring able to keep the lever and the U-shaped stirrup parted .
