RF receiving coil device for NMR spectrometers
Abstract
Abstract In a nuclear spin resonance spectrometer with specimen (1) arranged in a homogeneous magnetic field and being approximately at room temperature or a higher temperature, and an RF receiving coil (3), arranged around the specimen (1) and cooled to far below room temperature, for a receiving nuclear spin resonance signals from the specimen (1), at least parts of the RF receiving coil (3) are in heat-conducting contact with a cooled platform (7). The connecting lines of the RF receiving coil (3), the outside resonator wall (10), the preamplifier and the coolant transfer lines can be cooled by cold reflux gas. This arrangement of the RF receiving coil (3) results in an optimum filling factor which significantly lowers the thermal noise of the receiving system, increases the quality factor of the resonant circuit and, as a result, improves the signal/noise ratio. …<IMAGE>…
