Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 225 words
A catheter (40) equipped with a dilatation element comprising an inner tube (1) having a first lumen (4) open at the distal end; an outer tube (2) which surrounds the inner tube so that a predetermined length of the distal end portion of the inner tube extends out of the distal end of the outer tube and a second lumen (6) is formed between the inner surface of the outer tube and the outer surface of the inner tube; a foldable dilatation element (3) which has front and rear end portions attached to the inner tube and the outer tube respectively and which defines an internal space communicating with the second lumen (6); a first opening (9) which communicates with the first lumen at the proximal end of the inner tube; and a second opening (11) which communicates with the second lumen at the proximal end of the outer tube; characterized in that it further comprises a fixing member (5) inserted between the outer tube (2) and the inner tube (1) in the vicinity of the distal end portion of the outer tube (2), and in that the outer tube (2) is fixed to the inner tube (1) without blocking the second lumen (6) by the fixing member, and the distal end of the outer tube (2) is not fixed to the inner tube (1).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 27 words
A catheter as defined in claim 1, wherein a rigidity-imparting member (13) made of a wire material and extending lengthwise is disposed in said second lumen (6).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 37 words
A catheter as defined in claim 2, wherein the distal end of said rigidity-imparting member (13) is at the proximal side of a point where the outer (2) and inner (1) tube are fixed and left free.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 55 words
A catheter as defined in anyone of claims 1 to 3, wherein said fixing member (5) has about the same inner diameter as the outer diameter of said inner tube (1) and about the same outer diameter as the inner diameter of the outer tube (2) and further has at least one partial cut (5a).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 24 words
A catheter as defined in claim 4, wherein said fixing member (5) has a solid portion of at least half of the whole circumference.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 53 words
A catheter as defined in anyone of claims 1 to 5, wherein said dilatation element (3) has a substantially cylindrical portion (3a) in its middle region and a reinforcing member (14) is disposed around said inner tube (1) at about the same lengthwise position as the cylindrical portion (3a) of said dilatation element.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 21 words
A catheter as defined in claim 6, wherein said reinforcing member (14) is formed of a material substantially impervious to X-ray.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 29 words
A catheter as defined in claim 6, wherein said reinforcing member (14) is in the form of a coil of a wire material wound around said inner tube (1).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 28 words
A catheter as defined in claim 8, wherein said wire material is densely wound at both end portions of said reinforcing member in the form of a coil.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 23 words
A catheter as defined in anyone of claims 1 to 9, wherein the distal end portion of said outer tube (2) is tapered.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 47 words
A catheter as defined in claim 6, wherein the distal end of said outer tube (2) is tapered and not fixed and the rear portion of said reinforcing member (14) is held between the distal end portion of said outer tube (2) and said inner tube (1).
