Abstract

Abstract A portable terminal computer includes a main body (1) having operation means and input/output means of its own and which can be carried separately and is to be connected to a host computer through communication means, and an optional unit to be connected to the main body (1). The optional unit (6) is provided with a connector (15) for connecting the main body (1) by means of a wiring, a guide (8) serving as a guide in the connection to the main body (1), and a lock pawl (9) provided for a coupling to said main body (1) and having lock releasing means (17). The main body (1) includes a guide inserting slot (10) in which the guide (8) is inserted, a pawl inserting slot (11) in which the lock pawl (9) is inserted and an engagement portion (30) for engaging the lock pawl (9). The above-described structure allows smooth attachment and detachment of the main body (1) to and from the optional unit (6), thereby preventing malfunction and trouble to occur. <IMAGE>

Claim 1
Independent Claim 148 words
A portable terminal computer, comprising: a main body (1) having operation means and input/output means of its own and which can be carried separately and is to be connected to a host computer through communication means, an optional unit (6) to be connected to the main body (1), said optional unit (6) including: a connector (15) for connecting said main body (1) through a wiring, a guide (8) serving as a guide in connecting the optional unit to said main body (1), a lock pawl (9) provided for coupling to said main body (1) and having lock releasing means (17), said main body (1) including: a guide inserting slot (1) in which said guide (8) is inserted, a pawl inserting slot (11) in which said lock pawl (9) is inserted, and an engagement portion (30) for engaging said lock pawl (9) inserted in said pawl inserting slot (11).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 86 words
The portable terminal computer according to claim 1, wherein said main body (1) comprises a connector cover (12) slidably provided between a position at which a connector opening (28) is covered and a position at which the same is opened, the connector cover (12) having a pawl through hole (13) provided piercing through said connector cover (12) so as to allow said lock pawl (9) to be inserted when said connector cover (12) is at the position where the cover (12) opens said connector opening (28).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 49 words
The portable terminal computer according to claim 1, wherein said guide inserting slot (10) is provided with a partition surrounded by a partition plate (27), in which partition an elastic holding member (29) is fit, the holding member (29) guiding said guide (8) by holding said guide (8) therein.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 42 words
The portable terminal computer according to claim 1, the tip of said lock pawl (9) has a hook (9a) and said engagement portion (30) comprises a pin (30) engaging said hook (9a) when in locking and fixed to the main body (1).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 64 words
The portable terminal computer according to claim 1, wherein said lock pawl (9) comprises biasing means (25) for elastically and rotationally biasing said lock pawl (9) to maintain the engagement with said engagement portion (30) and said lock releasing means (17) removes the engagement with said engagement portion (9) by rotating said lock pawl (9) against the biasing force of said biasing means (25).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 39 words
The portable terminal computer according to claim 2, further comprising connector cover detecting means (40) for detecting the connector cover (12) being opened or closed, and lock detection means (42) for detecting a lock of the lock pawl (9).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 57 words
The portable terminal computer according to claim 6, wherein said main body (1) includes power supply controlling means (32) and said power supply controlling means (32) controls on/off of a power supply in response to the output signal which said main body (1) receives from said connector cover detecting means (40) or said lock detecting means (42).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 186 words
A portable terminal computer comprising: a main body (1) having operation means, input/output means and a connector (39) of its own and which can be carried separately and is to be connected to a host computer through communication means, an optional unit (6) having locking means (9) for a coupling to the main body (1) and which is to be connected to said main body (1) by means of a connector (15) corresponding to said connector (39), said optional unit (6) being provided with lock detecting means (42) for detecting the operation of said locking means (9) to output a signal to the main body (1), said main body (1) including: a connector cover (12) for opening and closing a connector opening (28) outwardly exposing said connector (39), connector cover detecting means (40) for detecting the operation of said connector cover (12) to output a signal to said main body (1), power supply controlling means (32) responsive to an output signal of said lock detecting means (42) or said connector cover detecting means (40) to stop or start a power supply to said main body (1).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 116 words
