Abstract

Abstract A method for polymerizing an alpha -olefin comprises the step of polymerizing an alpha -olefin in the presence of a catalytic system which comprises: (a) a transition metal catalytic component which comprises a titanium compound free of ligand consisting of hydrocarbon residues; (b) a titanium, zirconium or hafnium compound having, as a ligand, at least one cyclopentadiene, or polycyclic condensed-ring compound of cyclopentadiene, or alkyl-substituted derivatives thereof; and (c) an organic aluminum compound. The method makes it possible to produce highly stereoregular poly( alpha -olefins) having a relatively wider molecular weight distributions and thus has high industrial value.
