Claim 1
Independent Claim
156 words
A disk device with a cleaning device comprising a disk having a recording region and a non-recording region; a slider adapted to float by an air stream on the surface of said disk and positioned by an actuator through a spring and an arm; a head mounted on said slider; positioning means for positioning said slider at a predetermined track position on the disk by controlling said actuator; and motor control means for driving a motor serving to drive said disk in writing/reading of information, characterized in that it further comprises cleaning motor control means for rotating said disk in the opposite direction to that of said disk at an ordinary time of recording and reading the information and seeking means for forcing the slinder to seek the disk over the whole recording region of the disk during the opposite rotation of the disk to permit any dust on the disk to adhere to the slider.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
41 words
The disk device with the cleaning device according to claim 1 wherein said cleaning motor control means forces any dust to fall from the slider by repeatedly starting or stopping the motor, after the slider is sought by the seeking means.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
34 words
The disk device with the cleaning device according to claim 1 wherein said cleaning motor control means rotates the motor at a lower rotational speed in the backward direction than in the forward direction.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
39 words
The disk device with the cleaning device according to claim 1 wherein said seeking means moves the slider to the non-recording region after seeking the slider, and at this time the motor control means starts or stops the motor.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
33 words
The disk device with the cleaning device according to claim 1 or 3 wherein the disk is rotated in an ordinary direction and in an ordinary speed at starting or stopping the motor.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
33 words
The disk device with the cleaning device according to claim 1 wherein said seeking means and said cleaning motor control means are actuated before the positioning means and the writing means are actuated.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
44 words
The disk device with the cleaning device according to claim 1 wherein said seeking means and said cleaning motor control means are actuated when number of times of the actuation of the positioning means and the writing means reach a predetermined number of times.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
68 words
A cleaning method for a disk device with a cleaning device comprising the steps of: (a) rotating a disk oppositely to an ordinary direction of read/write operation; (b) cleaning a recording region on the disk by seeking a slider after said rotating step is completed; and (c) cleaning said slider by repeatedly performing contact-start-stop operation (actuation or interruption) of a motor in the non-recording region on the disk.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
68 words
A cleaning method for a disk device with a cleaning device comprising the steps of: (a) rotating a disk oppositely to an ordinary direction of read/write operation; (b) cleaning a recording region on the disk by seeking a slider after said rotating step is completed; and (c) cleaning said slider by repeatedly performing contact-start-stop operation (actuation or interruption) of a motor in the non-recording region on the disk.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
99 words
A cleaning method for a disk deyice with a cleaning device having a slider for reading/writing data from/onto a magnetic disk, said method comprising the steps of: (a) rotating said magnetic disk oppositely to an ordinary direction of read/write operation; (b) seeking a recording region at least once by moving said slider traversing a plurality of recording tracks after said rotating step is completed; (c) moving said slider to a non-recording region after said seeking step is completed, and (d) cleaning said slider at least once by said contact-start-stop operation of the motor after said moving step is completed.
Claim 12
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
34 words
The cleaning method according to claim 9 wherein it further comprises the step of: rotating the magnetic disk in the ordinary direction of the read/write operation between said moving step and said cleaning step.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim
40 words
The cleaning method according to claim 9 wherein said cleaning step comprises the steps of: (a) changing said direction of rotation of the magnetic disk; and (b) performing said contact-start-stop operation at least once before said altering step is completed.
