Abstract

A novel detector for the detection of invisible radiation and charged particles consists of at least one radiation absorbing plate (1) and at least one optical waveguide (2) arranged parallel to the surface of this plate and containing a fluorescent dye. The luminescent light generated in the plate by the absorbed radiation is converted into fluorescent radiation in the optical waveguide, guided to a light-sensitive semiconductor element by total reflection and measured there.
