Method for the automatic control of temperature and power of one or more high-temperature fuel cells powered by hydrocarbons
Abstract
Abstract Method for the automatic control of temperature and power of a high-temperature fuel cell (14) by feeding the gas (8), which contains the residual oxygen and inert gas and which was removed from the oxygen side of the fuel cell (14), partly to a burner (10) for pre- combustion and partly to a burner (11) for re-combustion. The pre- combustion zone is located in front of and the re-combustion zone behind the fuel cell (14). The latter is heated by pre-combustion (10) until the extracted gas (8) contains no more oxygen and pre-combustion is no longer sustained, producing a state of equilibrium. Any deviation from the nominal operating point returns the operating condition to a state of equilibrium, so that the fuel cell (14) is self-regulating, has intrinsic thermal and electrical stability and is inherently safe. <IMAGE>
