Abstract

Abstract An intravenous administration infusor for dispensing liquid at a predetermined flow rate comprises an elastomeric bladder (68) for receiving the liquid, the bladder being contained in a housing (62) and an outlet (64) from the housing being in communication with the bladder. Flow from the bladder is regulated by means of a flow restrictor wafer (36) which includes a substrate (38) having an enclosed restricted flow path (40) formed thereon.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 77 words
An infusor for dispensing a liquid under pressure at a predetermined flow rate comprising an elastomeric bladder (68) for receiving the liquid under pressure, a housing (62) containing the bladder, an outlet (64) in said housing in flow communication with fluid within said bladder, flow control means (76) for controlling the rate of fluid flow from said bladder comprising a flow restrictor wafer (36,122) including a substrate (38) having an enclosed flow restrictor path (40,128,130) formed thereon.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 77 words
An infusor for dispensing a liquid under pressure at a predetermined flow rate comprising an elastomeric bladder (68) for receiving the liquid under pressure, a housing (62) containing the bladder, an outlet (64) in said housing in flow communication with fluid within said bladder, flow control means (76) for controlling the rate of fluid flow from said bladder comprising a flow restrictor wafer (36,122) including a substrate (38) having an enclosed flow restrictor path (40,128,130) formed thereon.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 28 words
An infusor according to Claim 1 wherein said substrate (38) is formed of a crystalline material, and wherein said flow restrictor path (40,128,130) is etched in said substrate.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 95 words
A flow control device according to Claim 1 or 2, including a base member (88) a selector member (90) movably carried on said base member, and wherein the substrate (38) has at least two enclosed flow restrictor paths (128,130), each path presenting a different resistance to fluid flow to create at least two preselected fluid flow rates through the device, the wafer (122) and the selector member (90) being operatively interconnected for selectively choosing the desired one of said flow restrictor paths for the transport of fluid in response to movement of said selector member.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 45 words
A flow control device according to Claim 3 and further including a sealing member (108) carried by said base member (88), and wherein said wafer (122) is carried within the housing (62) between said sealing member (108) and the interior of the selector member (90).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 60 words
A flow control device according to Claim 3 or 4, wherein the wafer (122) includes first second, and third openings (138,140,142), one of said flow restrictor paths (128) extends between the first opening (138) and the second opening (140) and the other one of said flow restrictor paths (130) extends between the first opening (138) and the third opening (142).
