Denture and post comprising magnetic connecting parts
Abstract
Abstract A magnet housing (2) with a permanent magnet (3) is inset into the denture (1) and interacts with the surface of the post (6) in order to retain the denture. In order to prevent corrosion of parts of the post, all parts of the post which come into contact with the tissue in the jaw are made from a biocompatible material. The stem (13) and the head (14) of the post (6) are made from titanium, and an insert (18) of stainless steel is pressed into the head (14) to serve as a counter-pole to the permanent magnet. As a result of the above arrangement, the steel alloy necessary as a counter-pole to the magnet, which is susceptible to corrosion, does not come into contact with the tissue in the jaw. <IMAGE>
