Abstract

Abstract Apparatus for displaying a video signal having a plurality of display elements corresponding to one standard of the television signal disposed in an X-Y matrix shape includes a separator (3) for separating a sync signal from an input video signal, a control signal generator (7) for generating a control signal in response to the sync signal, a driver (8) for driving the display elements of a display panel (12) in response to the video signal and the control signal, and a converter (13) for changing the number of scanning lines in response to a timing which changes in each picture or frame when another standard of the television signal is supplied as the input video signal.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 109 words
Apparatus for displaying a video signal having a plurality of display elements corresponding to one standard of the television signal disposed in an X-Y matrix shape, said apparatus comprising: separator means (3) for separating a sync signal from an input video signal; generator means (7) for generating a control signal in response to said sync signal; drive means (8) for driving said display elements in response to said video signal and said control signal; and converter means (13) for changing the number of scanning lines in response to a timing which changes in each picture when another standard of the television signal is supplied as said input video signal.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 109 words
Apparatus for displaying a video signal having a plurality of display elements corresponding to one standard of the television signal disposed in an X-Y matrix shape, said apparatus comprising: separator means (3) for separating a sync signal from an input video signal; generator means (7) for generating a control signal in response to said sync signal; drive means (8) for driving said display elements in response to said video signal and said control signal; and converter means (13) for changing the number of scanning lines in response to a timing which changes in each picture when another standard of the television signal is supplied as said input video signal.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 26 words
Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said converter means (13) is operable to shift said timing by one scanning line in response to each picture change.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 20 words
Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said converter means (13) is operable to change said timing arbitrarily in each picture.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 49 words
Apparatus according to claim 1, claim 2 or claim 3, wherein said scanning lines of the other standard are omitted at every one of a predetermined number of lines when the scanning lines of the other standard are greater in number than the scanning lines of said one standard.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 14 words
Apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the predetermined number of said lines is six.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 21 words
Apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said one standard is NTSC and the other standard is CCIR.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 17 words
Apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said display elements are liquid crystal panels.
