Abstract

Abstract A surface mount connector has a pair of elongate housings (10, 20) engaged with each other through one side of a printed circuit board (30). A plurality of contacts (12, 22) extend from one side surface of at least one of said housings along a longitudinal direction of said one side surface. The contacts (12, 22) have contact portions (12A, 22A) which are brought into contact with conductive patterns or electrodes (31) formed on at least one surface of said printed circuit board when said pair of housings are engaged with each other.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 95 words
A surface mount connector comprising a pair of elongate housings (10 and 20) engaged with each other through one side of a printed circuit board and a plurality of contacts (12 and 22) extending from one side surface of at lease one of said housings along a longitudinal direction of said one side surface, wherein said contacts have contact portions (12A and 22A) which are brought into contact with conductive patterns or electrodes (31) formed on at least one surface of said printed circuit board when said pair of housings are engaged with each other.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 95 words
A surface mount connector comprising a pair of elongate housings (10 and 20) engaged with each other through one side of a printed circuit board and a plurality of contacts (12 and 22) extending from one side surface of at lease one of said housings along a longitudinal direction of said one side surface, wherein said contacts have contact portions (12A and 22A) which are brought into contact with conductive patterns or electrodes (31) formed on at least one surface of said printed circuit board when said pair of housings are engaged with each other.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 37 words
A surface mount connector according to Claim 1, characterised in that said housings comprise engaging portions (11 and 21) constituted by a plurality of mating projections (11A and 21A) formed along a longitudinal direction of said housings.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 22 words
A surface mount connector according to Claim 1 or Claim 2, characterised in that said pair of housings have an identical shape.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 65 words
A surface mount connector according to Claim 2, characterised in that portions adjacent to said contact portions of said contacts of each housing sandwich said printed circuit board and said engaging portions extend upward or downward from one side surface of said printed circuit board, when said pair of housings are engaged with each other through said one side surface of said printed circuit board.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 40 words
A surface mount connector according to Claim 2, characterised in that said engaging portions of said housings and said contacts are offset from each other along the longitudinal direction of said housings and are located at positions of different levels.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 43 words
A surface mount connector according to any one of Claims 1 to 5 characterised in that said contacts constitute connecting portions (12B and 22B) which extend through said housing and extend therefrom on a side opposite to said contact portions of said contacts.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 39 words
A surface mount connector according to any one Claims 1 to 6, characterised in that said pair of housings comprises guides (13 and 23) extending from opposite sides of said housings so as to be engaged with each other.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 29 words
A surface mount connector according to Claim 7, characterised in that said guides are engaged with each other through holes or notches (32) formed in said printed circuit board.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 44 words
A surface mount connector according to Claim 7 or Claim 8, characterised in that at least one of said pair of guides to be engaged with each other comprises a post having a split slot (23A) and a cross section of a notched circle.
