Abstract

Abstract A stable homogeneous liquid antidandruff shampoo comprising about 0.10 to 2.0% by weight of 1-imidazolyl-1-(4-chlorophenoxy)-3,3-dimethylbutan-2-one (Climbazole) solubilized in an aqueous vehicle containing an acidic surfactant system of about pH 4 to pH 5.5 and further comprising a major amount of an anionic surfactant and minor amounts of either a nonionic, cationic, or amphoteric surfactant or a mixture thereof.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 67 words
A homogeneous liquid antidandruff shampoo composition comprising 1-imidazolyl-1-(4-chlorophenoxy)-3,3-dimethylbutan-2-one (Climbazole) solubilized in an aqueous vehicle characterised in that the shampoo contains about 0.1-2.0% by weight of Climbazole, and a low pH surfactant system of about pH 4 to 5, comprising an anionic surfactant as the primary surfactant and minor amounts of a supplemental surfactant selected from the group consisting of nonionic, amphoteric, and cationic surfactants and mixtures thereof.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 67 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 21 words
A composition as claimed in Claim 1 characterised in that the aqueous vehicle constitutes about 70-95% by weight of the composition.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 34 words
A composition as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 characterised in that the anionic surfactant constitutes about 6-25% by weight and the supplemental surfactant or mixture of surfactants constitutes about 1-7% by weight.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 85 words
A composition as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 3 characterised in that the surfactant system comprises a combination of anionic and nonionic surfactants in a weight ratio of 14/3, anionic/nonionic surfactant, or a combination of anionic and amphoteric surfactants in a weight ratio of 8/2, anionic/amphoteric surfactant, or a combination of anionic, amphoteric and cationic surfactants in a weight ratio of 8/2/0.2, anionic/amphoteric/cationic surfactant, or a combination of anionic, nonionic, amphoteric and cationic surfactants in a weight ratio of 8/1/1/0.1, anionic/nonionic/amphoteric/cationic surfactant.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 16 words
A composition as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 4 additionally containing triethanolamine myristate.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 34 words
A composition as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 5 characterised in that the anionic surfactant is a water soluble sulphate or sulphonate salt having an alkyl radical of 10-18 carbon atoms.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 64 words
A composition as claimed in Claim 6 characterised in that the anionic surfactant is represented by the formula: R¹-O(CH₂CH₂O) n SO₃M, wherein R¹ represents an alkyl radical having 10-18 carbon atoms, n is an integer having a value of 0-5, and M is an alkali metal, ammonium, alkylol ammonium or an organic amine, e.g. sodium lauryl ethenoxy ether sulphate containing 2-ethoxy radicals per molecule.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 44 words
A composition as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 7 characterised in that the nonionic supplemental surfactant is a mono- or di-ethanolamide of a higherfatty acid having 8 to 18 carbon atoms, in an amount of about 1-5% by weight, e.g. cocodiethanolamide.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 43 words
A composition as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 8 characterised in that the amphoteric surfactant is selected from the group consisting of betaines, sulphobetaines, amidobetaines, amidosulphobetaines and mixtures thereof, in an amount of about 1-5% by weight, e.g. cocoamidopropyl betaine.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 41 words
A composition as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 9 characterised in that the cationic surfactant is a polymeric quaternary ammonium salt consisting of acrylamide and dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride monomers, in an amount of about 0.05-0.5% by weight.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 25 words
A composition as claimed in any one of the preceding claims characterised in that it contains 1%-2% of Climbazole and having a pH of 4.
