Abstract

Abstract The nucleotide sequence of the PCHL1 plasmid which is specific to Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) is reported. Synthetic oligonucleotides with sequences homologous or corresponding to a region of at least 10 consecutive nucleotide bases selected from the sequence of the plasmid are particularly useful for the determination of CT in a biological sample.

Claim 7
Independent Claim 89 words
A method for the determination of Chlamydia trachomatis in a clinical sample, which comprises the denaturing of the double-stranded nucleic acids extracted from the disrupted cells contained in the sample under test, the placing of the single-stranded nucleic acids thus obtained in contact with one or more probes having nucleotide sequences homologous to at least one sequence contained in the strands and the detection of the hybridised probe, the method being characterised in that the probes are selected from the group of oligonucleotides according to claims 1 to 5.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 43 words
A method according to claim 6, in which the single-stranded nucleic acids are ligated to an insoluble solid substrate and then placed in contact, in a hybridisation mixture, with one or more of the oligonucleotides according to claims 1 to 5, suitably marked.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 19 words
A method according to claim 7, in which the marker substances are selected from the group of radioactive isotopes.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 26 words
A method according to claim 7, in which the marker substances are selected from the group of haptens, antigens, antibodies, biotin, fluorescent substances and chemiluminescent substances.
Claim 11
