Abstract Translated from German Es wird ein Verfahren zur Abscheidung und Verbrennung von Rußpartikeln aus Dieselabgasen vorgeschlagen, bei dem die Rußpartikel vor ihrer Verbrennung in einem beidseitig offenen Zellenfilter mit wabenartig aufgebauten Zellen durch ein elek­trisches und/oder magnetisches Feld abgeschieden werden, des­sen Feldlinie vorzugsweise normal auf die Strömungsrichtung im Zellenfilter liegen. Die Vorrichtung zur Durchführung dieses Verfahrens ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Form der Waben des Zellenfilters (1) quer zur Abscheiderichtung und quer zur Strömungsrichtung sehr breit und in Abscheiderichtung sehr flach, vorzugsweise im Verhältnis 3 : 1 bis 6 : 1 gestaltet ist und die in Abscheiderichtung laufenden Stege sehr schmal, vorzugsweise 0, 5 mm oder darunter sind.
