Abstract
Abstract Novel ferrocene derivatives represented by general formula (I) or general formula (II) (wherein symbols are as defined in the specification) are excellent as surfactants. A thin organic film of a hydrophobic organic substance may efficiently be produced by an electrochemical process using the novel ferrocene derivative or other ferrocene derivative as a micelle-forming agent (surfactant).

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim
94 words
A ferrocene derivative represented by the general formula: (wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently hydrogen, a methyl group, an ethyl group, a methoxy group or a carbomethoxy group, m is an integer of 1 to 4, n is an integer of 1 to 5, r is an integer of 11 to 18, and s is a real number of 2.0 to 70.0) or the general formula: (wherein w is an integer of 2 to 20, and R 1 , R 2 , m, n and s are the same as described above).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
9 words
A surfactant containing a ferrocene derivative of Claim 1.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
86 words
A process for producing an organic thin film which comprises making a hydrophobic organic substance in an aqueous medium by the use of a surfactant containing a ferrocene derivative of Claim 1 or a ferrocene derivative represented by the general formula: (wherein t is an integer of 2 to 10, and R 1 , R 2 , m, n and s are the same as above), and electrolyzing the micelle solution obtained to form a thin film of the above hydrophobic organic substance on an electrode.
