Abstract

Abstract An apparatus and method for recording digital data employing a DAT (digital audio tape recorder) adapted to record the data from a computer or the like in accordance with the DAT format, wherein a unit is formed of predetermined plural frames and a signal indicative of the frame number serially continuing in the unit and a signal indicative of the last frame of the unit are recorded, whereby the length of the unit can be arbitrarily changed and accordingly signal processing is facilitated easily.
