Catheter
Abstract
Abstract A catheter (1) according to the invention is used for the follow-up heat treatment of a vascular section dilated in the area of a stenosis (18). For this purpose, the catheter (1) has a dilatable balloon (2) which is designed in a partial area of its wall with a resistant heating element (6). This heating element is formed by an electrically conductive heating foil (10), which is attached at opposite longitudinal edges to current supply wires (7). These wires (7) are guided inside the catheter shaft (3) outwards and are connected to a current source (8). By means of the follow-up heat treatment after a dilatation, restenosis can be eliminated and dissections can be "welded". <IMAGE>
