Rear wheel suspension
Abstract
Abstract The specified suspension of the rear, driven wheel (1) comprises a wheel carrier (4) supporting the wheel (1) which is pivotally connected to the vehicle body via a longitudinal arm (5). Three transverse control arms (6, 7, 8) are also provided which are pivoted on the body side on the sub-frame (9). In order to be able to make the sub-frame (9) more rigid in response to elastic deformations due to lateral forces exerted by the transverse control arms (6, 7, 8), two transverse control arms (7, 8) are arranged above the wheel centre and only one transverse control arm (6) below the wheel centre. The transverse forces transmitted to the sub-frame (9) by the upper transverse control arms (7, 8) are essentially introduced into this sub-frame (9) in its plane, so that this frame is capable of fully absorbing these forces. The transverse forces transmitted further below by the lower transverse control arm (6) are introduced into an area of the sub-frame (9) in which this can be made sufficiently rigid by simpler means. <IMAGE>
