Abstract

Abstract Antigens characteristic of all species of Listeria except L. denitrificans comprising proteins found in Listeria heat extracts, the major antigen having a molecular weight of from about 30 to about 38 kD and comprising three immunogenically different epitopes and others comprising proteins having a molecular weight range of approximately 17 kD to the major antigen and comprising an epitope immunoreactive with antibodies that are also reactive with one of the three epitopes on the 30 to about 38 kD protein. The invention also comprises mouse monoclonal antibodies specifically reactive with the identified epitopes on these antigens.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 30 words
Antigen characteristic for Listeria species with the exception of L. denitrificans reactive with at least one of the monoclonal antibodies selected from the group consisting of 9-5E, 10-12C and 10-2A.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 30 words
Antigen characteristic for Listeria species with the exception of L. denitrificans reactive with at least one of the monoclonal antibodies selected from the group consisting of 9-5E, 10-12C and 10-2A.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 66 words
Antigen according to claim 1 comprising a protein found in Listeria heat extracts having a molecular weight of from about 30 to about 38 kD, the antigen comprising three immunogenically different epitopes, to which antibodies produced by spleen cells of mice immunized with said Listeria heat extracts are specifically reactive, said antigen being found in heat extracts of all species of Listeria except L. denitrificans .
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 42 words
A Listeria antigen of claim 2, wherein a Group I IgG₁ antibody is reactive with the first epitope, a Group II IgG₁ antibody is reactive with a second epitope, and a Group III IgG 2a antibody is reactive with a third epitope.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 51 words
4 A Listeria antigen comprising a protein found in Listeria heat extracts having a molecular weight less than the major antigen but at least 17 kD, said antigen comprising an epitope to which a monoclonal antibody is immunoreactive that is also immunoreactive with an epitope on the antigen of claim 1.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 10 words
5 Antibody immunoreactive with the Listeria antigen of claim 1.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 28 words
Monoclonal antibody against the antigen according to claim 1 characterized by an epitope specificity of a monoclonal antibody selected from the group consisting of 9-5E, 10-12C and 10-2A.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 41 words
7 The monoclonal antibody of claim 6, produced by immunizing an animal with Listeria heat extracts, immortalizing antibody producing cells from said animal, culturing the immortalized cells to produce antibodies, and selecting immortalized cells that produce antibodies immunoreactive with the antigen.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 32 words
Immuno-assay method for the detection of Listeria in a sample characterized in that said sample is incubated with at least one antibody which is immunoreactive with the antigen according to claim 1.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 20 words
