Portable inhaler
Abstract
The invention relates to a portable inhalation device which can be operated with an accumulator (25) independently of the mains. In an aerosol nebulizer (7) separate from the rest of the device, a medication solution is nebulized into an aerosol by means of compressed air introduced. The compressed air required for this is generated by a compressed air generator (23). A manually operated valve (14) arranged on the aerosol nebulizer (7) shuts off the supply of compressed air. The compressed air generator (23) is driven by an electric motor (24). The electric motor (24) is controlled by means of an electronic control unit (31), to which a pressure sensor (30) arranged between the compressed air generator (23) and the valve (14) is electrically connected. In response to this pressure sensor (30), the control unit (31) automatically switches on the electric motor (24) as soon as the pressure falls below a predetermined minimum inside the compressed air hose (11). The compressed air generator (23) is therefore only driven if the patient allows compressed air to flow into the aerosol nebulizer (7) by actuating the valve (14). - The automatic, pressure-controlled mode of operation makes full use of the electrical energy stored in the accumulator (25) and allows the inhalation device according to the invention to be operated particularly conveniently.
