Abstract

Abstract The subject invention relates to an antenna having broadband characteristics. The antenna is a dual notch device capable of receiving or transmitting electromagnetic waves comprising a substrate (21), a first planer conducting antenna element (22) disposed on one side of the surface of said substrate and having a first curved edge (24), a second conducting antenna element (23) disposed on the other side of the same surface of said substrate (21) and having a second curved edge (25), said first and second curved edges (24, 25) being closely related to one another and spaced apart in close proximity at one point (26) to define a feed-point therebetween with adjacent curved edges gradually tapering outwardly therefrom to define flared notches interfacing one another and interconnected by said gap.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim 21 words
An antenna as recited in Claim 1 wherein the first and second radiators are metallizations bonded to said substrate by electrodeposition.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 23 words
An antenna as recited in Claim 1 wherein each notch is defined by a pair of curved metallizations converging towards the feed-point gap.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 19 words
An antenna as recited in Claim 1 wherein the flared notches are both disposed in a single common plane.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 26 words
