Abstract

Abstract The invention relates, in general, to an identification code sheet (10) for representation of codes of a merchandise, a character string and a document etc. and a method of its reading. The identification code sheet (10) for identification of the merchandise etc., according to the invention, comprises a representation area (20) defined by both an X-axis (16) and a Y-axis (18) intersecting mutually either orthogonally or skewedly and sub-areas (24) of identification code (21) printed in said representation area (20). According to the invention, said representation area (20) is divided into sixteen or more sub-areas (24), in each of which an identification code (21) of signal codes (22) of binary type is recorded. In this manner, much more information relative to the same by conventional technique may be handled and more particularly much more Kana-Kanzi, Arabic and Chinese letters etc. as well as numerical characters, symbols, and alphabets may be represented with an improved ease with which they can be read. The representation of representation areas (20) defined by both the X-axis (16) and the Y-axis (18) and the identification code (21) in said sub-areas (24) ensures an improved accuracy and speed of reading by means of a senser to read the identification code sheet (10) in any direction and further a simpler reading, representation and outputting etc. by use of a printing sheet and printing means for general use.

An identification code sheet (10), as claimed in claim 1, wherein said representation area (20) is divided into at least sixteen or more sub-areas (24) and in each of which said identification code (21) set up by signal codes (22) in terms of binary signals is recorded.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 43 words
An identification code sheet (10) as claimed in claim 2, wherein sixteen or more sub-areas (24) in said representation area (20) are grouped into four or more assemblies (30), in which said identification code of 2⁴ or more signal codes (22) is recorded.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 54 words
An identification code sheet (10) as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein an auxiliary representation area (36) is provided next to the periphery of said representation area (20) and an auxiliary mark (38) for identification of reading direction of recorded identification code on said auxiliary representation area (36) is recorded.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 39 words
An identification code sheet (10) as claimed in any one of the claims 1 to 3, wherein separation marks (44) are provided between said sub-areas (24) in said representation area (20) in order to be readily interpreted for discrimination.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 87 words
A method of reading an identification code sheet, wherein an identification code is read by means of a sensor for reading signal codes from said identification code sheet on which said identification code is recorded in a representation area defined by both an X-axis and a Y-axis for representation of said identification code, both said X-axis and said Y-axis recorded on said identification code sheet being detected, and said representation area being determined and signal codes represented in terms of binary signals on said representation area interpreted.
Claim 8
Independent Claim 87 words
A method of reading an identification code sheet, wherein an identification code is read by means of a sensor for reading signal codes from said identification code sheet on which said identification code is recorded in a representation area defined by both an X-axis and a Y-axis for representation of said identification code, both said X-axis and said Y-axis recorded on said identification code sheet being detected, and said representation area being determined and signal codes represented in terms of binary signals on said representation area interpreted.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 66 words
(7) A method of reading an identification code sheet as claimed in claim 6, wherein said identification code sheet bearing said identification code set up by signal codes in terms of binary signals on any one of at least sixteen or more sub-areas divided in said representation area is read by means of said senser, in order to interpret said identification code in the individual sub-areas.
Claim 10
