Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 35 words
A method for monitoring mutagenic agents comprising creating transgenic non-human animals containing a test DNA sequence, exposing such animals to possible mutagenic agents, and observing the effects of such agents on said test DNA sequence.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 35 words
A method for monitoring mutagenic agents comprising creating transgenic non-human animals containing a test DNA sequence, exposing such animals to possible mutagenic agents, and observing the effects of such agents on said test DNA sequence.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 32 words
A method in accordance with claim 1 wherein the animal carries a test DNA sequence that may be excised from the animal tissue, inserted into a microorganism, and expressed by the microorganism.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 66 words
A method in accordance with claim 2 wherein the test DNA sequence is inserted into the single-celled embryos of the animal, the test DNA sequence is carried on a vector containing the cos sites of bacteriophage lambda, the test DNA sequence is integrated into the genome of the host animal, and the test DNA sequence vector allows for expression of the test DNA sequence in microorganisms.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 68 words
A method in accordance with claim 2 wherein the test DNA sequence is carried by a vector capable of autonomous replication in host animal cells, the test DNA sequence is inserted into the single-celled embryo of the animal, the test DNA sequence autonomously and heritably replicates in the host animal cells, and the test DNA sequence vector allows for expression of the test DNA sequence in a microorganism.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 65 words
A method in accordance with claim 3 wherein the transgenic non-human animal is a mouse, the test DNA sequence is carried by a modified bacteriophage lambda, the test DNA sequence is integrated into the mouse genome, the test DNA sequence is excised from the mouse genome using a lambda packaging extract, and the test DNA sequence is introduced into and expressed by E. coli .
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 21 words
Transgenic non-human animals containing a test DNA sequence capable of being rescued from the animal cells and expressed by a microorganism.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 21 words
Transgenic non-human animals containing a test DNA sequence capable of being rescued from the animal cells and expressed by a microorganism.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 24 words

Dependent Claim 22 words
The transgenic non-human animal resulting from the process of introducing a test gene into a single-celled embryo and differentiation of the embryo.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 35 words
The transgenic non-human animal of claim 9 wherein the process is comprised of microinjecting a test gene in a lambda vector genome into a single-celled embryo and providing for growth and differentiation of the embryo.
