Abstract

Abstract An adjusting instrument for electrically adjusting the interior mirror of a motor vehicle about two mutually perpendicular axes. The device comprises a vehicle-connectable suspension device (3) and a mirror mounting plate (9) connected thereto. The plate is adjustable about two mutually perpendicular axes and mounts a rearview mirror (10). The suspension device comprises a housing mounting two drive units whose output shafts are perpendicular to one another and geared to drive the mirror mounting plate. The drive units are arranged to exert a torque on the point of suspension of the suspension device, that is equal but opposite to the torque exerted on the point of suspension by the mirror mounting plate with mirror.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 153 words
An adjusting instrument for electrically adjusting the interior mirror of a motor vehicle about two mutually perpendicular axes, said adjusting device comprising - a vehicle-connectable suspension device for a mirror mounting plate and - a mirror mounting plate connected thereto and adjustable about two mutually perpendicular axes, said plate mounting a rearview mirror, characterized in that the suspension device comprises a housing (5) accommodating two drive units (13,14) having output shafts perpendicular to one another, as well as a mirror mounting plate (9) connected to said housing (5) for pivotal movement about a horizontal shaft (7) and adjustable by the drive units (13,14) said drive units (13,14) being disposed at such an interspace from the point of suspension of the suspension device (3,5,6) that the torque exerted thereby on said point of suspension is equal but opposite to the torque exerted on the point of suspension by the mirror mounting plate with mirror.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 153 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 46 words
An adjusting device as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the mirror mounting plate (9) is provided on its rear side with a toothed arcuate segment (11) that is in engagement with a pinion (12) mounted on the drive unit (14) with a horizontal shaft.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 82 words
An adjusting device as claimed in claims 1-2, characterized in that the suspension device comprises a suspension member (3) fixedly connectable to the motor vehicle, said member being connected to the housing (5) by means of a retaining clamp (6), said housing (5) being rotatable about the suspension member (3), which is provided with a toothed arcuate segment (25,26) lying in a horizontal plane, said segment being in engagement with a pinion disposed on the drive unit (13) with a vertical shaft.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 42 words
An adjusting device as claimed in claim 3, characterized in that the suspension member (3) is provided with two diametrically opposite recesses (28) adapted to connect said member (3) to the ceiling of a motor vehicle by means of a bayonet coupling.
