Method of making high transition temperature superconductor materials
Abstract
Abstract A ceramic material can be produced by the method, in which a superconducting metal oxide phase having a high transition temperature and based on the Me1-Me2-Cu-O system is formed by means of a heat treatment. The metal components Me1 and Me2 contain at least one rare earth metal or yttrium or an alkaline earth metal. The method is intended to facilitate the construction of bodies made of the brittle metal oxide with any desired shape. For this purpose, the invention provides that a master alloy consisting of the metal components of the system involved are fused in the desired concentration ratio, that an amorphous or finely crystalline intermediate product is then formed from said melt of the master alloy using a rapid quenching technique and that, finally, the intermediate product is subjected to an oxidation treatment with simultaneous heat treatment to form the desired superconducting metal oxide phase avoiding melting.
