Optical arrangement for converting divergently emitted polarized radiation of a semiconductor-laser into convergent radiation without feedback
Abstract
In a known arrangement of the type mentioned, two optical lenses and an optical isolator, which consists of a Faraday rotator and at least one polarizer, are arranged in the beam path of the laser radiation. The lens, which is located closer to the semiconductor laser, is part of the Faraday rotator and consists of a YIG ball lens. The dimensions of this lens are not favorable for a high coupling efficiency and a high blocking attenuation. In the new arrangement, it is not the lens (3) closer to the semiconductor laser, but the lens (4) further away from it that is part of the Faraday rotator (6). It advantageously consists of a plano-convex lens, the curved side (40) of which faces the semiconductor laser (1).
