Abstract

Abstract Stretch wrapping apparatus that uses two rollers 17,18 rotating at different speeds to stretch a web of wrapping material has problems of slippage when applied to wrapping grass. These are ameliorated by forming the roller surfaces with projections 32, e.g. by applying a mesh or (better) forming axial corrugations. The surfaces are preferably of metal.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 55 words
Stretch wrapping apparatus comprising web supply means comprising two rollers (17, 18 ; 30) spaced apart along an intended web supply path (20), and arranged to rotate at different speeds in use, such that web (20) passing them is stretched; characterised in that the surfaces (31) of said rollers (30) are provided with projections (32).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 55 words
Stretch wrapping apparatus comprising web supply means comprising two rollers (17, 18 ; 30) spaced apart along an intended web supply path (20), and arranged to rotate at different speeds in use, such that web (20) passing them is stretched; characterised in that the surfaces (31) of said rollers (30) are provided with projections (32).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 23 words
Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the projections of a said roller (30) are provided by corrugations (32) running parallel to its axis.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 17 words
Apparatus according to claim 2 wherein the corrugation has crests which are substantially flat or circumferentially extending.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 17 words
Apparatus according to claim 2 or 3 wherein the corrugations have a pitch of less than 2mm.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 18 words
Apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the projections of a said roller (30) are provided by a mesh.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 13 words
Apparatus according to any preceding claim wherein the projections (32) are of metal.
