Apparatus for disintegrating a fluid-suspended solid body
Abstract
Abstract The apparatus described is used for disintegrating renal calculi by means of acoustic shock-waves, which are induced by the light of a laser and which a resonator (7) for accoustic waves focusses on the calculus (1). <??>In the area of the resonator (7), there is an element (8) which consists of a material absorbing the laser light and to which the laser light is directed, so that the plasma state triggering the acoustic shock-wave develops on the surface of the element (8). The material used for the element (8) is advantageously platinum. <??>In this way, it is ensured that, even under unfavourable conditions, acoustic shock-waves can reliably be generated upon each laser pulse. <IMAGE>
