Accumulation conveyor
Abstract
Abstract 1. An accumulation conveyor of the type comprising a plurality of shuttles (N) driven by at least one endless drive chain (9-10) passing over end sprocket wheels, the shuttles (N) being provided with a first pair and a second pair of toothed wheels, each of which is mounted to rotate freely on a transverse shaft and which can engage with said drive chains (9-10), and with rollers (G) for supporting them in co-operation with roller paths (27) provided for this purpose, it also being possible for said shuttles to be fixed in position as desired along straight sections of the conveyor, whereas in the semicircular end zones additional means are provided for positively driving the shuttles, characterised in that as a result of said additional means each shuttle (N) is provided on its undersurface with shoe means (45, 46) which, as a result of the rollers (G) coming into abutment with a track (50), can exert a pressure on at least one elastically deformable contact ring (33) mounted on a rotating annular support (34), whose axis of rotation (12) is common to that of the corresponding end sprocket wheel, and in that on its undersurface each shuttle (N) comprises a first and second pair of projecting bosses (45, 46) arranged on either side of plane of symmetry (X-X) extending transversely in relation to the direction of movement of the shuttles (N), said pairs of bosses forming its shoe means.
