Abstract A coating composition comprising a major amount of at least on fluorocarbon resin (A) and a minor amount of a property-improving additive (B) or (C); the resin (A) being: perfluoroalkoxy tetrafluoroethylene copolymer resin (PFA); ethylenechlorotrifluoroethylene copolymer resin (E-CTFE); ethylenetetrafluoroethylene copolymer resin (E-TFE); poly- (vinylidine fluoride) resin (PVDF); tetrafluoroethylenehexafluoropropylene copolymer resin (FEP); poly(chlorotrifluoroethylene) resin (CTFE); or a mixture of two or more of these resins; the additive being: (B) a poly(phenylene sulfide) (PPS); or (C) a nitride; an oxide; a diboride; or a carbide of silicon, zirconium, tungsten or boron.

A method for forming a fused coating from the composition of any of claims 1 to 4 comprising heating the composition to a temperature for a period of time no longer than a predetermined period of time, the said temperature being at least 14°C (25°F) below the temperature at which the resin of the composition in neat form can be fused completely by heating for no longer than the said determined period of time without substantially degrading the resin.
