A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 or 2 wherein said polymer is selected from (a) copolymers consisting of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid and/or esters thereof; (b) hemiesters of organic bivalent acid with polysaccharide, polysaccharide acetate, alkylated polysaccharides, or hydroxyalkylated polysaccharide; (c) alkyl ethers of carboxyalkylated polysaccharides; (d) hemiesters of organic bivalent acid with polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetate or polyvinyl acetal; and (e) a combination of two or more such materials.
