Abstract
Abstract A heat-shrinkable electrically shielding tubular article 14 is provided with an electrically conductive lining 16 on its inner surface, which lining is formed of a continuous coating of a metal which deforms without cracking during recovery so that after recovery the coating will remain continuous and adhered to the surface of the article. The coating may be formed of an alloy which softens without fully melting, at the recovery temperature of the article.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim
56 words
A heat-shrinkable tubular article provided with an electrically conductive lining on its inner surface, characterised in that said lining (16) is formed of a continuous coating of a metal which deforms without cracking during recovery of the article (14) so that after recovery the coating will remain continuous and adhered to said surface of the article.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
36 words
A heat-shrinkable article as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the metal of said coating (16) exhibits a broad melting point so that said metal softens, without fully melting, during recovery of said article (14).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
30 words
A heat-shrinkable tubular article as claimed in claim 2, characterised in that the recovery temperature of said article lies within the range of said broad melting point of the metal.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
47 words
A heat-shrinkable tubular article as claimed in any preceding claim, characterised in that the metal of said coating comprises an alloy of bismuth, lead and tin, preferably in the proportions of 44-56% by weight of bismuth, 22-28% by weight of lead and 22-28% by weight of tin.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
45 words
A heat-shrinkable tubular article as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the metal of said coating comprises an alloy of indium and bismuth, preferably in the proportions of 93-97% by weight of indium and 3-7% by weight of bismuth.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
45 words
A heat-shrinkable tubular article as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the metal of said coating comprises an alloy of bismuth and tin, preferably in the proportions of 35-45% by weight of bismuth and 55-65% by weight of tin.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
42 words
A heat-shrinkable tubular article as claimed in any preceding claim, characterised in that a relatively thin priming layer (21 or 22) is disposed over said inner surface of the article (14) and said metal coating (16) is disposed over said priming layer.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
32 words
A heat-shrinkable tubular article as claimed in claim 7, characterised in that said priming layer (21) comprises a polymeric material, preferably polyvinyl acetate and preferably of a thickness up to 50 microns.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
30 words
A heat-shrinkable tubular article as claimed in claim 7, characterised in that said priming layer (22) comprises a precious metal preferably having a thickness in the range 0.2 - 2mm.
Claim 11
Independent Claim
72 words
A method of forming a heat-shrinkable tubular article provided with an electrically conductive lining on its inner surface, comprising taking an expanded, heat-shrinkable tubular article, then applying a suitable metal to the inner surface of said article (14) to form a coating (16) of said metal which deforms without cracking upon recovery of the article so that after recovery the coating will remain continuous and adhered to said surface of the article.
Claim 12
Independent Claim
72 words
A method of forming a heat-shrinkable tubular article provided with an electrically conductive lining on its inner surface, comprising taking an expanded, heat-shrinkable tubular article, then applying a suitable metal to the inner surface of said article (14) to form a coating (16) of said metal which deforms without cracking upon recovery of the article so that after recovery the coating will remain continuous and adhered to said surface of the article.
